Phaeodus encaustus Fish Eocene


Phaeodus encaustus. An absolutely gorgeous fish. The specimen measures a whacking 173mm length ie. 6 3/4 inches and is well exposed on matrix that is 270 x 165mm across and 15mm thickness. There is a single repair to the matrix and minor restoration at the tail. It comes from the Green River Formation of Wyoming, USA and dates circa 36 - 58 million years old. A close-up is also shown.
